"Living with HEART"

In addition to providing kids with valuable nutrition information, our program gives our participants special “recipes” to inspire them to live a “HEART felt life”.

What does it mean to live with "heart"? Aren't we all by nature loving, caring people? Don't we all have big hearts? Of course we do! But what does it mean to actually "live" with heart?

"Living" with heart is not something we can passively do. It is not like watching t.v. or reading a book. It does start in a quiet way, though, because in order to live with heart, we have to first have good thoughts - and not just good thoughts about ourselves (how we look and how we feel, which is very important), but we also need to have "heart"-felt thoughts about others.

Because "living with heart" requires us to actually do something to show our hearts to others, we give kids 5 key "HEART" ingredients (character traits) and ask them to do something each week exemplifying these "HEART" characteristics.

We use the acronym “HEART” as a way to explain the key ingredients to living this way, which are:

Humility
Empathy
Appreciation
Respect
Tenacity
Our program shares life lessons and inspirational stories so that our participants are inspired to take care of their own heart, and truly live the “HEART felt life.”

Our HEART curriculum also ties in with our goal of motivating children to create Rainbows every chance they get - both in choosing foods that will protect their health and in reaching out to others in need.  For more information about our Rainbow philosophy
