INCENTIVES

Weekly Food & Fitness Contests

In order to incentivize kids to reach our nutritional and character goals, we reward our participants with prizes.  Each week, children compete in team-oriented food contests in which each team's food creation is judged for taste, presentation, and nutriional value.  Participants also receive rewards for completing weekly nutritional and character goals.   We also have a "Food Rainbow" representing the various colors of fruits and vegetables.  Rewards are also given for children who complete their food vegetables (eat 210 fruits & vegetables by the end of our 6-week program!)

FEAR FACTOR FOODS

Because kids are often reluctant to try new foods, or to eat foods that might not look appealing to them, we have incorporated a "Fear Factor" game in the Kids Heart Felt nutrition program.  Below are photos of kids playing "Fear Factor Dips".  Kids who tried these dips were each rewarded with prizes (100% of these kids participated and ended up putting our "Fear Factor Avocado Spinach" and "Fear Factor Hummus" spreads on their whole wheat tortilla sandwiches (nothing so frightful about that!)

OUR FOOD RAINBOW

To encourage kids to eat a variety of vegetables & fruits, Kids Heart Felt Health gives each of its participants an uncolored "rainbow" at the beginning of each 6-week session, along with colored stickers that represent the various colors of vegetables and fruits.  Children who eat at least 5 vegetables & fruits each day (or 210 in total by the end of 6-weeks) and complete their "rainbows", get rewarded with a prize at our last class.
